Making An SVG Using the Shape Tool
Presley, ‘Baby’ in this scenario, wanted a tank top with a watermelon on it. I realize I could easily find a watermelon, but I wanted to try to make one from scratch. I think it turned out pretty well! Here’s what I did using the Business Edition of Silhouette Studio:
Using the drawing tool on the oval setting, I created a large(ish) oval to be the center of my melon slice.

I then opened the offset panel, clicked on the oval, and selected offset. This created the rind of my melon. I chose the colors I planned to use in vinyl so I could get a visual image of what the end result would be.

I used the knife tool to cut my ovals in half length-wise.

The next step was to create another oval and duplicate it twice, ending up with three identical ovals that I used to create a bite taken out of the watermelon slice. To do this, I rotated the ovals until I was happy with the shape of the bottom portion.

Once the ‘bite’ is in place, I opened the Modify panel and used ‘Subtract All’ to remove the bite.

Next, I used the shape tool to create a watermelon seed that I duplicated many times and placed wherever I wanted on the slice.

Lastly, I added the words that she wanted and chose a cute font. I saved the file as an SVG.
